On Saturday, August 26, activists of the regional department of the Russian Geographic Society, workers of a zoo and a regional Rospotrebnadzor department as well as residents of the Zarya neighbourhood took part in the environmental campaign.

With a help of special hooks they removed algae that spread out in the pond. The plants remained lying on the shore. In the near future, they will be fed to birds in the Penza zoo.

The entire shore including recreation area was cleaned from domestic litter.

It was the first time the activists cleaned the pond. By popular request of the neighbourhood residents, the pond was included to a list of objects volunteers of "Green Wave" take care of.

After the campaign, the organizers treated the participants with a lunch – pilaf and fish soup – cooked outdoors, the press service of the regional department of the Russian Geographic Society reports.
