Penza, 3 November 2017. PenzaNews. The international campaign "Great Ethnographic Dictation" gathered mainly students in the Penza House of Youth.

As an encouragement, all of them received vouchers for a free visit of an exhibition devoted to peoples of the Penza region in the Ulyanov Museum.

The young people who gathered in the hall "Sphere" were greeted by representatives of the authorities.

"This year, a set of regional questions has been introduced. It is very important for us. People can check themselves and in addition receive knowledge in the sphere of local history, geography and culture," the deputy chairman of the Penza region government Vasily Trokhin noted.

In turn, the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the region Yana Kuprina suggested that the event would promote a better understanding of the country.

"I am sure that this year the questions you will receive will be very interesting and when you return home you will want to know more about this or that aspect," she said.

After the start of the campaign, Vasily Trokhin and Yana Kuprina left the hall and the young people began to write the dictation.

A total of 30 questions were to be answered, each of which offered several options for answering.

In particular, the participants were asked to determine the order in which Ingushetia, Khakasia, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Udmurtia voluntarily entered the Russian state.

A question related to local history and culture was 23rd and ran as follows: "The largest Tartar village in Europe is located in Penza. Name it." The participants could choose one of four options: Verkhnyaya Elyuzan, Srednyaya Elyuzan, Tatarsky Kanadei and Isikeevo.

According to Elena Blinova, regional coordinator of the great ethnographic dictation, results of the dictation will be known after November 10.

"Heads of the platforms where the dictation was held will start to check the works immediately after the end of the campaign. The coordinators will know neither names nor surnames – each participant has their own identification number," she explained.
