Penza, 27 November 2017. PenzaNews. The annual ceremony of awarding school pupils and students with scholarships from the head of the Penza administration took place in the centre of culture and leisure on Monday, November 27.

20 young people selected from 48 applicants were invited to the ceremony.

Turning to those present, the head of the city Valery Savelyev reminded that the scholarship had been established in 2005.

"I am grateful to everyone who is present here today – to school pupils, students, teachers, because you deserve the title of the best representatives of your sphere," he said.

Valery Savelyev wished the young people never to stop at what they have achieved.

In turn, the Penza mayor Victor Kuvaytsev drew attention to the fact that it is important to be not only a literate but also all-round person.

"It was not a coincidence that scholarship from the administration head is received by children who are engaged in science, creativity and sport. Each sphere is represented here, each of them has the best representatives," he noted.

Victor Kuvaytsev encouraged the school pupils and students to become those who will move the society forward.

"I want to thank you for your being leaders today, for being a role model to other children," the mayor stressed.

He also addressed words of gratitude to the teachers.

As it was reported by the press service of the Penza administration, the talented school pupils and students had received certificates and cash awards amounting to 4,000 roubles and their teachers had been presented with letters of gratitude and souvenirs.

Altogether 313 scholarships for the sum of over 900,000 roubles was paid from 2005 to 2006.
