Penza, 18 December 2017. PenzaNews. Almost 80% of the participants of the poll conducted on the PenzaNews website on December 11-17, 2017, plan to celebrate the New Year's Day at home. Altogether 319 Internet users, including 282 – from Penza and the Penza region, took part in it.

About 6% of the respondents reported that as the clock chimes twelve they will be at their relatives’, and slightly over 5% – at their friends’. 

About 3% of the poll participants noted that they will go to a restaurant to see the New Year in. A bit more than 2% of the respondents answered that they will spend the New Year's night outside, slightly less people chose the option “Other”.

2% of the online poll participants remained undecided.

A year ago, a similar survey had been conducted on the PenzaNews website from November 21 to December 4. At that time, the share of those who planned to celebrate the New Year at home was over 75%.

According to the ancient eastern calendar that is known as the Chinese zodiac, the 2018 year will be the year of the Yellow Earth Dog. However, it will not begin on January 1 as some people think by mistake but only on February 16 – in the second new moon after the winter solstice.
