Turning to representatives of the leading mass media during the traditional annual preceding New Year’s Day meeting, the chairman of the regional Legislative Assembly Valery Lidin expressed his gratitude to journalists for effective cooperation.

"I would like to thank you sincerely for good and constructive interaction. We tried to be open – sometimes we managed to do so, sometimes – not really. But the most important thing is an objective assessment of everything happening, of the things that concern the establishment of rules and regulations and participation of our deputies in voter education and in important events held in the territory of the Penza region," he said.

Valery Lidin also expressed hope for successful cooperation in the future.

“[In the future] we will try to do everything possible to ensure that no information is withheld, that it is available,” the speaker of the regional parliament said.

As an example of openness he mentioned the situation that happened at the 4th session of the Legislative Assembly, on December 19, when Stanislav Filippov, chairman of the Penza department of the party Revival of Agrarian Russia finished his speech before deputies and refused to answer their questions saying that he would do so "only in a live television broadcast". In turn, Valery Lidin informed him that each session of the regional parliament was broadcast on the Internet: everyone could watch it.

Along with PenzaNews photojournalist Maxim Kostyushin, representatives of television and radio broadcasting companies, printed and Internet media were awarded. Mikhail Dralin, board chairman of the Bank Kuznetsky, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, helped Valery Lidin to present the awards.
