The press secretary of the Left Front regional department Sergei Padalkin reported that several police officers arrived at the building of the Penza mayor's office, where a one-person rally in support of education was being held, in order to take him to a police department.

"We were holding a one-person protest near the city administration, when I suddenly received a call from police officers who asked me to drop in and to sign the protocol on the campaign featuring a coffin near the Ministry of Health. I refused. They came to the administration to arrest me," he wrote on his Facebook profile on Thursday, December 21.

After some time the activist clarified that he had been detained by "seven police officers with a dog".

"I am being taken to the department in Nekrasova street," Sergei Padalkin added.
