Governor: The crime rate in the Penza region remains relatively low

Penza, 25 January 2018. PenzaNews. The Penza region remains a region with a relatively low crime rate. This was reported by the governor Ivan Belozertsev analysing results of operational performance in 2017 during the meeting of the board of the regional MIA department on Thursday, January 25.

He noted that 881 crimes was committed per each 100,000 population, while in the Volga Federal District the number is over 1,300, and the average number for Russia is 1,400.
"There were less premeditated murders, thefts, robberies, cases of hold-up, fraud and misappropriation of motor vehicles in the structure of crimes. The percentage of criminal cases of these categories solved increased. In the past year there was a positive trend of decrease of the number of registered crimes in public places and in the streets including grave and gravest crimes," the head of the region said.
Ivan Belozertsev added that a lot of work on protection of budget funds "from different kinds of criminal encroachment" had been conducted.
Voicing tasks for 2018, the governor drew attention to the necessity to ensure order and legitimacy during presidential elections as well as when hosting events that will take place within the framework of the FIFA World Cup 2018 including fans' arrival to Penza.
"These two important events must be held in the Penza region at an adequate organizational level," the press service of the regional government quotes Ivan Belozertsev.
