Penza, 19 February 2018. PenzaNews. Governor Ivan Belozertsev, who had suggested installing the Mother's Monument in Penza in February 2017, demanded that the idea should be brought to life by the end of 2018.

"In 2018 the Mother's Monument should be installed with all finishing works done. And we will do this," he said at the action meeting in the regional government on Monday, February 19.

The head of the region ordered the head of the City Planning and Architecture Department – the main architect of the region Leonid Ioffe to make proposals for the design of the sculpture.

According to Ivan Belozertsev, if he does not receive any, he will have to turn to specialists from other regions.

"There are no proposals from Penza yet," the governor stated.

He reminded that the monument Ladushki by Nikolai Mordovin, which had been selected by a special contest committee, caused protests in the society.

In this regard Ivan Belozertsev recommended preparing several options so that residents can choose the best one by voting.

"We are installing the monument for people but not for architects," Ivan Belozertsev emphasized.
