100th anniversary of Red Army celebrated in Penza with rally
Penza, 23 February 2018. PenzaNews. Supporters of communist views celebrated the 100th anniversary since the establishment of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army with a rally near the building of the former cinema Rodina on Friday, February 23.
Before the start, a group of Komsomol members and communists headed by the secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party Oleg Shalyapin laid flowers at the stele Glory to Heroes and the monument to the Fighters for the Revolution.
During the rally those present including representatives of the Communist Party of Russia, the Lenin Young Communist League and the Left Front remembered the history of the establishment of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and shared their opinions about what had happened to the heritage of the Soviet Union in recent years.
In addition, on the occasion of the anniversary the deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly, presidium member of the Central Committee of CPRF, first secretary of the Penza regional committee of the party Georgy Kamnev presented medals "100th Anniversary of the Red Army" to the most distinguished communists. Alexei Shulman, participant of the Great Patriotic War, the retired majors Victor Pogodin and Vladimir Rakhmin as well as others were among them.
As it was reported by the press service of the Penza regional committee of the Communist Party, the events on the occasion of 23 February were also held in areas of the region.
