"Few areas of the region show a positive trend when it comes to a population issue, but others lag behind. In general, the region has shown a negative trend for many years. We are looking for a regional idea of what should be done to increase the birth rate. We still cannot come up with it," he said at the action meeting in the regional government on Monday, March 5.
According to Ivan Belozertsev under the circumstances it is necessary to give close attention to the issues of motherhood and childhood protection as well as to provide all necessary support including financial one.
According to preliminary data of the Penza Statistics Service, in 2017 from January to December 11,967 babies were born and 18,852 people passed away including 50 babies under the age of one year.
The natural decline of population amounted to 6,855 people, which is 1,000 more than the result of the previous year.
