85 cases of influenza registered in Penza region

Penza, 5 March 2018. PenzaNews. 85 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza have been registered in the Penza region since January 1, 2018. This was reported by the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor).

The department noted that in 27 cases this was the strain А(H3N2), in 37 cases – А(H1N1), in nine ones – B, and 12 more people got infected with an A-flu that was not decoded yet.
"Altogether 4,055 cases of viral respiratory infection and influenza were registered in the Penza region from February 26 to March 4. The incidence rate amounted to 298 per 100,000 population. The incidence ratio of influenza equalled to 0.7%," Rospotrebnadzor explained.
The press service specified that over the past seven days 0.3% of the total population and 0.67% of children of the region was down with viral respiratory infection, which is 21% more than a week earlier. However, the incidence in the whole region is 62.1% lower than the epidemiological threshold in all age groups.
"During a week the total incidence of viral respiratory infections in Penza amounted to 2,281, that is 486 per 100,000 population. This is 61.4% less than the epidemiological threshold," the department explained.
