The goods were confiscated in the course of unscheduled inspection conducted at wholesale and retail markets of Penza on April 3 and 4.

Thus, the owners failed to provide the documents that would prove the legality of the import to the country and the safety of over 85 kg of pears, 14 kg of apples from Poland as well as 176 kg of tomatoes from Turkey, which had been produced by an enterprise that had no permission to supply goods to Russia.

"Administrative cases under the Art. 10.3 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation "Violating the Rules of Production, Procurement, Transportation, Storage, Processing, Use and Sale of Products Subject to Quarantine (of Materials and Cargo Subject to Quarantine)" were opened against the individual entrepreneurs who traded in products prohibited from being imported in the country," public relations officer of the Rosselkhoznadzor department in Mordovia and the Penza region Larisa Yakushkina told PenzaNews.
