"It is the second time we are holding the exhibition and we became convinced that it is necessary, useful and interesting.

Showing old cars we want to dive in the history of motor industry both domestic and foreign ones," Alexander Gulyakov, rector of Penza State University said giving a speech before those present.

He drew attention to the fact that the university has the faculty of mechanical engineering and transportation, whose students should be especially interested in the event.

"Models of domestic production of different companies, modifications and ages are represented here," Alexander Gulyakov explained specifying that exhibits from the Penza, Saratov and Moscow regions as well as Mordovia could be seen at the display.

The rector also recalled the last year's idea to take best students of the university for a drive in the retro cars. He assured that the promise would be fulfilled within the day and they would have a chance to drive around the PSU territory.

"If they enjoy it, we will also drive through the city," he added.

In turn, the director of LLC StroiSpetsBeton, deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, Yulia Lazutkina thanked Alexander Gulyakov for the fact that representatives of the university keep the memory of her father and his favourite cause.

"In his time he started it as a hobby – with one car. He was extremely enthusiastic about it. [...] Then the number of cars reached 7 as the number of grandchildren," she noted.

Yulia Lazutkina added that each of the grandchildren received a car from her father as a present.

After the opening ceremony visitors had an opportunity to have a good look at the cars and take photos of them as mementos.

Yuri Ruzlyaev, head of the Russian MIA Administration for the Penza Region, who visited the event as a guest, was one of the first to examine the exhibits.

The display will be open in PSU till 17.00.
