Penza, 9 May 2018. PenzaNews. Thousands of residents and guests of Penza gathered in Prospekt Pobedy street to participate in the solemn events dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The roads adjacent to the monument to Military and Labour Valour of Penza Residents were cordoned off. There was a warning tape and metal barriers at the edge of the carriageway.

Security measures were strengthened. Metal detectors were installed in all five streets leading to the monument, police officers including dog experts with dogs were on duty. Police officers stopped people with bulky bags and backpacks for examination.

Before the official celebration those who came to the monument had a chance to see exhibits of the museum of military equipment under the open sky and to take photos as mementos.

Many people bought holiday memorabilia – balloons, flags, garrison caps and belts stylized as elements of military uniform of the 1940ies.

There was also a point of recruiting citizens into the army in Prospekt Pobedy street. Public reception office within the project Soldier's Fate was also located there.

The formation of the Immortal Regiment column finished: participants of the rally would march holding portraits of their loved ones in memory of their military and labour heroism.
