As it was said by the head of information and public relations division of the main EMERCOM department in the Penza region, Anna Shupilova, this was due to massive ignition of dry grass that had occurred shortly before – altogether 19 cases of grass ignition were registered over the past day.

"Including in Leonidovka, Zarya, Prokazna. The territory is immense. Such a haze over the city formed due to temperature difference – cold weather at night gave place to warmth," the interlocutor explained.

She specified that the smog was not fraught with danger and would soon dissipate.
