Jazz May musical festival starts in Penza

Penza, 18 May 2018. PenzaNews. The 8th international jazz music festival Jazz May started in Penza on Friday, May 18.

The main programme of the first day of the event includes the performance of the hosts – Express-Band headed by Yuri Belonogov, as well as the ensemble 4'33 and their leader Alexei Aigi. It will be possible to get acquainted with their work in the large hall of the regional philharmonic.
However, as in previous years many residents and guests of the city preferred to enjoy jazz in the open air – in Yubileynaya square, where a stage had been installed, natural lawn, which will further be given for charity, had been laid, and benches had been placed.
The event, which had been held in Penza since 2011, united representatives of different professions and ages.
The festival will continue its work on 19-20 May.
On Saturday music will be played in the open air from noon to evening. The audience will hear jazz music performed by bands from Penza, Zarechny, Samara and Moscow. Different workshops and lectures have also been planned. The sextet of Victoria Kaunova and Ilya Morozov as well as DJ Walter and the trio of Andrei Kondakov will perform at the end of the day.
On Sunday the musical programme will begin in Yubileynaya square also at 12.00. Artists from Penza, Moscow, Saratov and Samara will take the stage. In the evening everyone will have a chance to see the performance of Dmitry Ilugdin's trio and the French band Dam'nco.
