1,700 paid parking spaces planned to be created in Penza over 10 months

Penza, 22 May 2018. PenzaNews. 1,700 new parking spaces are planned to be created in Penza upon availability of sufficient funding of the project, the implementation of which began on May 1, 2018, and will finish on February 10, 2019. This was reported by the head of the city department of communal services Andrei Grishin at the meeting held in the mayor's office on Tuesday, May 22.

According to him, 27 sites for the placement of paid parking spaces providing for 1,415 spaces in the centre of Penza and six sites for 285 cars on the periphery have been determined.
Andrei Grishin specified that outdoor parking sites will contain 1,185 spaces in the centre and 235 – out of it, and indoor parking sites – 230 and 50 spaces respectively.
The head of the city department of communal services expressed confidence that the parking spaces will not be empty as according to an analysis residents are willing to pay for comfort.
As it was reported by the press service of the Penza administration, to justify the implementation of the project data on the activities of municipal parking in Lermontova street near the regional N.N. Burdenko hospital was used: in 2017 the revenues of the city budget amounted to 1.4 million roubles, in 4 months of the year 2018 – over 800,000 roubles. Each parking space brings the income of 4,000 roubles. The payback period of the project is 11.5 months.
Currently, paid parking spaces in Penza are mainly provided by private organizations. The parking is available, in particular, near the shopping centres Vysshaya Liga and Passazh, the hotel Rossiya, entertainment centre Kvadrat, in the territories of the Tsentralny and Senny markets.
There are also two indoor parking sites in the city – in Volodarskogo and Voronova streets.
