The ceremony of turning on new architectural and artistic illumination of the television tower 180 metres high was held in Penza during the match of the second tour of FIFA World Cup 2018 between the teams of Russia and Egypt that took place in Saint Petersburg in the evening on June 19, as a result of which the home side won a clear victory with the score 3:1.

The ceremony was attended by governor Ivan Belozertsev, general director of the federal state unitary enterprise Russian Television and Broadcasting Network Andrey Romanchenko, as well as residents of Penza, including football fans.

"The project of the architectural illumination became a real present for the city, and I'm sure it will create people's mood and the tower will be one of the main attractions of Penza," Ivan Belozertsev said during the ceremony.

In turn, Andrei Romanchenko noted that previously the new illumination had been turned on in the cities hosting the matches of the World Cup, and in Penza this event was also dedicated to the 60th anniversary of TV broadcasting in the region.

Illumination of the tower in Penza has three modes of operation — evening, night and festive modes. It is possible to program different scenarios, including the display of the flag of the Russian Federation, the St. George ribbon and light clock.
