Some participants of the campaign held in the framework of the project “Memory and pride in hearts of generations” came from Penza.

The event brought together members of the youth parliament, activists of the All-Russian People's Front, Russian Student Teams, representatives of the regional Federation of Mixed Martial Arts, Penza Cossacks Society, team Poisk-Vezdekhod, Young Guard of United Russia, students of Penza State University of Architecture and Construction and Penza State Agriculture University as well as young people of the Serdobsk area.

They cut young plants in the territory of the cemetery that had fallen into decline and looked more like a forest. The participants of the campaign also collected rubbish, which was later removed from the site.

"We came to the agreement that youth organizations of the Serdobsk area will take patronage over the graves," chairman of the youth parliament of the Penza region Andrei Sushkov told PenzaNews.

In turn, chairman of the regional department of the Russian search movement Larisa Kazakova explained that a lot of work on further improvement of the abandoned burial ground of the military hospital, where according to some sources there are two graves and according to other sources – 70-80 graves, is still to be done.

"It is impossible to carry out exhumation to establish the exact number of people buried here because, as you can see, civilians and soldiers are mixed together. It makes sense, however, to work with the archives of the Penza region, Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, with the archive of war graves of Saint Petersburg, which has the maximum information. The trip is planned for January," the interlocutor said.

According to Larisa Kazakova, on establishing all the names, it will be necessary to make changes to relevant documents and to take measures to perpetuate the names of the dead by placing a memorial stone or an obelisk, for example.

After the cleaning was completed, everyone was invited to visit mansion Nadezhdino, which is a monument of history and culture of federal significance, in the Serdobsk area.

In the framework of the project "On the trail of forgotten estates" an excursion there was conducted.
