"We have a pair of Canadian wolves. There is an Arctic she-wolf in the zoo and we are looking for a match for her. This means there are going to be two full-fledge packs. [...] Nowadays they live in constructions made in 1980s that do not meet any requirements. [...] For this reason the Penza zoo has decided to build a large spacious enclosure," the director of the institution, Andrei Voskresensky, said.
According to him, the natural soil will be preserved in the territory inhabited by wolves. It is planned to build houses for the animals and for a better view the enclosure will be covered by glass from three sides, benches and rain caps for visitors will be installed.
Head of the scientific-educational department of the zoo Anna Ivanova noted that the Penza residents who are anxious about the conditions of wolves keeping can leave money in a donation box.
She also added that on August 12 the festival House for Wolves will be held. All the money received on this day from the sale of tickets and souvenirs will be spent on the construction of the enclosure.
