Food festival Eat In Penza to be held on September 22-23 for first time

Penza, 16 August 2018. PenzaNews. Workshops by chefs, tasting of dishes prepared by restaurants and cafes, as well as cooking competitions will be organized in the framework of the first urban food festival Eat In Penza, which will be held at the sixth floor of the shopping centre Vysshaya Liga, in the area where usually an ice rink is located, on September 22-23. This was said by the initiator of the event, general director of the autonomous non-profit organization Creative Association PenzaHobby, head of the handicraft centre A Drop of Sun, Lyudmila Timakova.

She explained that the festival includes an educational programme for restaurateurs and those interested in a gastronomic sphere, during which participants will have a chance to learn useful information about different aspect of work of food service establishments including the tableware, textile and interior design.
Lyudmila Timakova noted that guests of the festival will be able to participate in free tasting and have an opportunity to try any dish they like for a fee.
"We want to combine different types of cuisine, not only the high one. There will be many original and traditional dishes [in the festival programme]. I think it is great that the rules of a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating are actively developing nowadays – we are going to allocate a large area for it," the organizer of the event specified at the press conference held on Tuesday, August 16.
According to her, it is intended to announce a competition for residents on social networks, the winner of which will have a chance to cook a dish of their own at the festival.
Lyudmila Timakova explained that the venue for the festival was chosen in compliance with fire safety requirements: there are many cooker hoods at the location, as well as a possibility to install a large amount of equipment; in addition, its capacity is 5-7,000 people.
She noted that the final decision on the cost of an admission ticket had not been made yet – it is possible that the admission will be free of charge.
