Penza, 4 November 2018. PenzaNews. About 6,000 people, according to the regional government, took part in the rally in the Yubileynaya square of Penza on the occasion of the National Unity Day.

The event under the motto "Unity is our strength!" began with a dance flash mob to the song "My Motherland", during which young people held scarves in the colours of the national flag in their hands.

Then the presenters reminded the audience about the history of the holiday, after which the anthem of Russia was played.

Ivan Belozertsev was the first to address the audience. He congratulated everyone on the National Unity Day and the Day of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God.

He noted that the challenges the state faced could be solved only through national unity. After that, the head of the region read the lines from the poem "20 Years of Russia" by Andrey Dementiev.

In turn, acting head of the regional headquarters of the "Young Guard of United Russia" Dmitry Baklashov drew attention to the fact that the history of the holiday is a vivid example of spiritual and patriotic unity of a multinational nation.

"We, young people, cherish, appreciate and honour what has been created by many nations over the years. We always keep in our memory, remember and love our Motherland, we are proud of Russia, we glorify our people, and only together we can make Russia stronger," he said.

In continuation of the rally commander of search group "Krepost" Anna Fadeeva expressed an opinion that Russia is a symbol of peace on the Earth.

"We dig out the remains of the soldiers who died defending our Motherland, fighters of the Red Army of Workers and Peasants, representatives of different nationalities who committed a feat for their native land. Their wives and mothers shed tears equally. We remember and are proud of their feat," she said.

In addition, Petr Voronin, the chairman of the public organization Penza Sea Assembly, and Dmitry Shlykov, the regional coordinator of the movement Volunteers of Victory, who called solidarity and unity the support of the country, also congratulated the audience on the Unity Day.

"Mighty Russia flourishes and will prosper thanks to great ancestors, and we, the younger generation, should honour the memory of our ancestors and our history," he said.

The event continued with a concert.
