Penza, 27 November 2018. PenzaNews. Financial University under the government of Russia published the results of the study of life quality in 78 cities of the country with a population of more than 250,000 people, including Penza, conducted in 2018.

In total, six indicators were analysed and Penza received the following results: the quality of medical care – 60 points, the state of the road economy – 51, the development of culture and education – 48, the work of utility services and the volume of housing construction – 44, assessment of the activities of the city authorities – 54, as well as the assessment of the convenience of the territory for life, migratory behaviour and self-evaluation of income by the citizens – 46.

The index of life quality was calculated on the basis of these indicators and represents the average value of the listed subindexes. Penza ended up with 51 points.

This was not enough for it to enter top 30 cities with the highest quality of life. These included Tyumen, Grozny, Moscow, Sochi, Ekaterinburg, Saint-Petersburg, Cherepovets, Tula, Surgut, Krasnodar, Kaluga, Nizhnevartovsk, Ufa, Nizhny Tagil, Yoshkar-Ola, Saransk, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Belgorod, Cheboksary, Irkutsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, Izhevsk, Stavropol, Kaliningrad, Khimki, Vladimir, Samara and Sterlitamak.

Saransk, located in the neighbouring region, was ahead of Penza in such areas as the state of the road economy (57 points as against 51), the development of culture and education (67 as against 48), the work of housing and communal services and the volume of housing construction (55 as against 44).

The population itself also assessed the quality of life at a higher level: Saransk received 53 points, Penza – 46.

According to the presented data, the quality of health care is at the same level and equals 60 points.

The only category in which Penza was ahead of Saransk was assessment of the work of the city authorities (54 points as against 51).
