The Leninsky district court of Penza found the regional public charity foundation Civil Union guilty of an offense under Part 1, Art. 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation "Violation of the procedure of a non-profit organization acting as a foreign agent" and imposed a fine of 300,000 roubles.

The case was considered by judge Natalia Makarycheva during a hearing on Tuesday, July 9.
After it, executive director of Civil Union Oleg Sharipkov wrote on his Facebook profile that representatives of the foundation did not agree with the imposition of the fine for allegedly "political activity" of the NGO and intended to file a complaint to the regional court.
However, he added that the organization was "devoid of illusions about the Penza justice."
Oleg Sharipkov also provided several examples of what the amount of money equivalent to the fine could be spent for.
"300,000 roubles mean a good playground for children, which will not be installed, or repair of a playroom in a children's department of a hospital, or 10 small grants for Penza NGOs, or six months of work of free co-working area Clever. It's sad, insulting, and I'm full of rage," the head of the foundation Civil Union wrote.
In addition, he announced collection of funds to pay the fine and asked everyone who is familiar with journalists to talk about the situation.
