Penza, 8 August 2019. PenzaNews. Representatives of school forestry departments operating in the Penza region planted more than 1,000 seedlings of trees and shrubs on an area of 0.5 hectares for the period from January to June 2019.

The greatest activity was shown by children in Serdobsky, Sosnovoborsky and Lopatinsky areas.

In addition, in the first half of the year, members of the school forestry departments sowed forest plants on an area of 1.6 hectares, produced and installed more than 200 bird feeders.

In addition, they were engaged in explanatory work – distributed more than 100 leaflets and other materials on fire prevention.

The students also took an active part in all-Russian campaigns and events, namely "Protection of forests from fires", "International forest day", "Birdhouse", "Green wave", "Foresters open the doors" and others.

In total, 31 school forestry departments operate in the Penza region. 505 students are engaged in their activities, the press service of the Ministry of Forestry, Hunting and Nature Management of the region reports.
