In 8 months, almost 470 cases of rat-bite fever registered in Penza region

Penza, 12 September 2019. PenzaNews. 469 residents of the Penza region were infected with haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (kidney syndrome), which is also known as rat-bite fever, in the period from January to August 2019. This is stated in a message distributed by the press service of the regional administration of Rospotrebnadzor on Thursday, September 12.

According to the agency, the incidence of the disease for this period was 35.2 per 100,000 people.
Since the beginning of the year, cases of the fever have been registered in Belinsky, Bessonovsky, Vadinsky, Gorodishchensky, Kolyshleysky, Lopatinsky, Mokshansky, Narovchatsky, Nikolsky, Pachelsky, Penzensky, Serdobsky, Shemsheysky districts, as well as in Kuznetsk and Penza.
In 2018, the incidence of the disease in the Penza Region was 24.9 per 100,000 people, which is four times higher than the Russian average.
