Penza, 27 July 2020. PenzaNews. The number of citizens registered with the employment service and officially recognized as unemployed increased by 7 740 people in Penza region in May 2020. This was evidenced by data of Penzastat.

According to the information provided, 11 203 people were unemployed by the end of April, while at the end of May there were already 18 943 people.

The total number of unemployed citizens registered with the employment service increased from 14 179 to 21 578 during that period.

According to sample surveys, the number of labour force at the end of May 2020 was 637 300 people in Penza region. Of these, in accordance with the criteria of the International Labor Organization (ILO), 603 500 people – 94.7% – were classified as employed, and 33 800 people – 5.3% – as unemployed, that is, did not have a profitable occupation, looked for work and were ready to start it in the surveyed week.
