A small area was specially arranged for it, on which tiles were laid. Funds from the city budget had been allocated to carry out the relevant work.
The monument is erected on a pedestal in the centre of the site. Final works were not completed yet: a place was prepared for a plaque on which information about the monument is expected to be displayed.
The very figure of the mother is hidden under the cloth: only individual elements can be seen from underneath, and Penza residents cannot see with their own eyes how the idea of a monument, the installation of which had been under discussion since 2017, was implemented.
It is currently unknown when the monument will be opened.
There is also no official information on whether this is planned to be done in a festive atmosphere.
Judging by the photo posted by Governor Ivan Belozertsev on Instagram, it is the project proposed by Moscow sculptor Georgy Kurdov, a brother of Minister of Culture and Tourism of Penza region Tatyana Kurdova, that was implemented.
It was initially selected by an expert council from 20 projects and then won the highest number of votes in the online voting held on the regional government website from 24 December 2018 to 30 January 2019. It was supported by 819 Internet users, with less than 1 500 people voting.
