Penza, 9 May 2021. PenzaNews. A wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to Military and Labour Valour on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War took place on Sunday, May 9.

After a thanksgiving service in the Chapel of Michael the Archangel, representatives of the authorities, law enforcement agencies and public organisations proceeded to the memorial.

Because of restrictions in Penza region due to the spread of coronavirus, the monument was not as crowded as usual, but the number of participants at the event was noticeably higher than last year.

After the change of guard of honour, soldiers carried banners of the Great Patriotic War fronts.

A moment of silence was observed in memory of the fallen.

At the end of the event, the gathering laid flowers at the monument.
