Cultural landscapes of Penza region to be studied at expense of RGS grant

Penza, 24 July 2021. PenzaNews. The project Natural and Historical Heritage in Cultural Landscapes of Penza Region will be implemented at the expense of a grant from the Russian Geographical Society (RGS).

The author of the project, Serafima Artemova, associate professor of the Geography Department of Penza State University, chair of the geo-ecological commission of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, is among the winners of the 2021 grant competition in the field of Preservation of Natural and Historical and Cultural Heritage of Russia, Including in the Framework of UNESCO Programmes.
Systematization and summarising materials on the cultural landscapes of Penza region and substantiation of the establishment of ethno-cultural centres are the main objectives of the project.
According to the website of the regional branch of RGS, landscape-ecological field studies are planned.
The project is expected to produce recommendations for the establishment of ethno-cultural centres for
Mordovian, Tatar, Old Russian and Chuvash cultures.
