Pupils in Penza region schools collect around 5 tonnes of batteries since October

Penza, 7 December 2021. PenzaNews. Pupils from 147 educational organisations located in 26 municipalities of Penza region collected 4.85 tonnes of batteries during the next phase of the Recycle Batteries with Duracell project, which had been launched in October. This was stated in a message of the press service of the Ministry of Forestry, Hunting and Nature Management of the region.

“The following schools collected the largest amount of batteries in the Discharge competition category: secondary school No. 20 collected 230 kg of batteries, gymnasium No. 42 in Penza – 221 kg, Lermontov secondary school in Zasechnoye village – 264 kg,” the text reads.
It explains that companies with the status of regional solid waste management operators helped transport the collected batteries to a single collection point and now they are to be sent to a factory in Yaroslavl.
“The cost of recycling the batteries collected through the project is entirely borne by Duracell,” stresses the statement.
