Flag of the World Summer Universiade handover ceremony took place in Penza

Penza, 15 September 2011. PenzaNews. Handover ceremony of the flag of the World Summer Universiade took place on Lenin square in Penza on Thursday, September, 15th. As the news agency "PenzaNews" informed earlier, the main symbol of forthcoming Universiade was delivered from Saratov by delegation of famous sportsmen, representatives of management of Universiade "Kazan-2013", leaders of student's and youth organizations, volunteers and art collectives of Tatarstan.

The head of executive committee on preparation and carrying out the race of the flag Larissa Sulima gave flag to the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev and introduced the ambassador of Universiade in Penza — the bronze prize-winner of XXXVIII Olympic Games Alexey Voevodin.

Alexey Voevodin said: "It is very honorable, it's recognition of my merits, that I made for the Penza region, for Russia. It's exciting".

As he said, the ambassador's tasks include propagation and presentation the preparation for games in Kazan.

The chairman of the region sport committee Grigory Kabelsky considers the Universiade in 2013 either sport or political event.

Grigory Kabelsky said: "I think that it is the good PR-action. In each city the youth should know that the Universiade will take place in Kazan in two years. And that even now the organizing committee visits all cities and transfers a symbolical flag. It's political and sport event."

He also expressed the hope that the best Penza sportsmen will also take part in forthcoming Universiade.

Presentation of the flag of the World Summer Universiade 2013 took place in 15 cities of Russia to attract youth and volunteers attention to this sport event.
