City tournament on streetball held in Penza

Penza, 1 May 2012. PenzaNews. City tournament on streetball was held at Fontannaya Square of Penza on Tuesday, May 1.

18 amateur teams took part in it. Each team included four persons: three main players and a reserve one. It was a round robin tournament. Teams competed in three subgroups according to players’ year of birth: 1994 and older, 1995–1996, 1997–1998.
The first place in the senior subgroup was occupied by “Ekstem” team, the second place was taken by “Chuvaki,” the team “Orly” took the third one. “Psy” won in the middle subgroup. The second place was taken by “Okla,” and “Royal” took the third one. The team representing school No. 10 was the best in a younger subgroup. Girls from team “Dikie Koty” took the second place. “Penza” team took the third place.
Maxim Timokhin (“School No. 10”), Olesya Shagurova (“Dikie Koty”), Konstantin Novikov (“Penza”), Dmitry Panin (“Ekstem”), Sergey Kalyakin (“Psy”), Roman Nikitin (“Royal”) and Pavel Yudintsev (“Okla”) became the best players of the tournament.
All participants of the competitions got cups and valuable prizes.
According to the organizer of the tournament, the director of Penza child youthful sports school No. 1 Alexander Kalmakov, streetball is one of the most available sports therefore annually a great number of young people take part in the competitions.
“We never expose any requirements for participation in tournament. All children can form teams of three or four people in their yard and demonstrate their talent at such competitions,” he noted.
“Now almost every yard has a streetball or basketball court and if children want to develop their skills, go forward and lead a healthy life, they will do it,” Alexander Kalmakov concluded.
