Penza, 25 December 2012. PenzaNews. 88 federal sporting events were held by the Committee of physical culture, sport and tourism of the Penza region in 2012. This was announced by the chairman of the regional sports committee Artur Panteleyev during a press conference in Penza on Tuesday, December 25.

“The region held 14 competitions and 23 championships of Russia with the total number of participants of 15,8 thousand people from 58 regions of the Russian Federation,” he said.

Artur Panteleev added that the Penza region hosted five international events in the current year — the World Cup of Rhythmic Gymnastics, the stage of the European Cup in Triathlon, ATP Series Tennis Tournament “Penza Cup,” rhythmic gymnastics competitions of the CIS and Baltic countries, as well as the tournament for the Cup of two-time Olympic champion Natalia Lavrova.

“Moreover, the Penza region organized 13 training sessions of Russian national teams,” pointed out the chairman of the regional sports committee.

He stress that 26,296 thousand rubles were allocated from the federal budget to the Penza region for All-Russian competitions in 2012.
