The event was attended by the players, coaches and managers of professional hockey club Diesel, as well as over 200 fans.
The executive director of Diesel club Dmitry Koryagin began the ceremony with thanking the fans for supporting the team throughout the VHL tournament.
“We brought you little joy this season, but we tried,” he said.
Dmitry Koryagin reminded that several years ago the very getting into the play-off was a good result for the club.
“In ten seasons this is the fourth one when we were out in the first round, in the rest of cases, we went through semifinals among the best four clubs. This year we failed because the players did not have enough time to recover from their injuries. Moreover, we lost a few players. Also a big disadvantage was the situation at the beginning of the season, when the decision about the participation of the team in the championship was made at the last minute,” Dmitry Koryagin clarified.
He added that currently the club is negotiating with a candidate for the position of the head coach for the team, although he did not mention his name.
“If everything goes well, Vladislav Bulin will be a senior coach, if not, he will become the head coach,” the executive director of Diesel said.
Speaking about the future club financing, Dmitry Koryagin clarified that the amount of funding is still being discussed.
Responding to a question about gathering the club, the hockey school, and the ice palace in the same hands, he noted that this would have been ideal for the development of this kind of sport.
