Cycling race devoted to Victory Day held in Penza

Penza, 9 May 2013. PenzaNews. Over 20 students aged 8-16 took part in the annual cycling race organized by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in honor of Victory Day.

“Cyclists started from village Akhuny, and finished at the site of the military unit No. 3473 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, where they watched a demonstration of unarmed combat and obstacle course performed by the soldiers. After that, the participants of the race were invited to the field kitchen,” the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told news agency “PenzaNews.”
The ministry noted that the bicycles, on which the students overcame the race distance, were presented to them as a gift.
According to the deputy chief of the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs colonel of internal service Vladimir Lysov, one of the objectives of the event was popularizing sports among students.
“In addition, we want to show them life from a new point of view, to introduce them to the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia,” he added.
