Penza, 18 July 2013. PenzaNews. Athletes representing the Penza region at XXVII World Summer Universiade in Kazan won fifteen different medals.

Three gold awards were gained by divers Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Zakharov in individual and synchro exercises. Swimmer Anastasia Zueva and gymnast Anastasia Bliznyuk became three-time champions. Sergei Fesikov earned a medal in swimming. Gold was gained by gymnast Denis Ablyazin, who also took the honorable second place twice.

Weight-lifter Nadezhda Evstyukhina and swimmer Viktoria Malyutina became silver winners.

The total number of athletes representing the Penza region was 16. However, one participant — Nadezhda Bazhina — had to leave the diving competition because of back injury, the Internet service “Penza-Sport” reported.
