Penza, 13 December 2013. PenzaNews. The Penza athlete Sergei Fesikov won gold medal of the European Swimming Championship in the mixed 4x50 meters relay.
In the competitions, which take place in Danish Herning, he took part in the preliminary rounds and helped the Russian team to reach the final, where the team set a new world record – 1 minute 32,38 seconds.
The Russian team was also represented by Vitaly Melnikov, Oleg Kostin, Nikita Konovalov and Vladimir Morozov.
The Italians took the second place in the relay and the Germans – the third.
In addition, Sergei Fesikov was the fourth in the race for 50 meter freestyle covering the distance for 21,20 seconds.
The Russian swimmer Vladimir Morozov got the victory in this event – 20,77 seconds. Marco Orsi from Italy and the Ukrainian Andrei Govorov also became prizewinners – 21,00 and 21,17 seconds correspondingly.
On the first day of the competition, the Russian team won four gold and one bronze, the Internet service “Penza-Sport” reports.
