In his view, it will be a historic day for the region.

“I would like to call on residents of Penza to arm themselves with patience. There may be some delays or transportation failures. The higher the standard of living is, the more there are cars, the more there are such problems,” Vasily Bochkarev said during the festive event dedicated to the arrival of the Olympic flame bowl in the region, held in the round hall of the regional government on Thursday, January 9.

The governor recalled that the Penza region is a region of Olympic athletes.

“We have a lot of legendary people who made a worthy contribution to the Olympic Games. Of course, today we need to work on it. Being united, we should together meet the torch properly, carry the flame gracefully and bid it farewell. Life will be better, we will invest more budget money in the winter sports,” he promised.

According to Vasily Bochkarev, business should also actively contribute to the development of sport.

“Meanwhile, our businessmen “peek around the corner.” But they should be partners supporting the Olympic Winter Games. We have good hockey schools, short track is developing. We are planning to build an indoor ice arena in Lomovo. Sport is fashionable. We are setting a task through the Olympic torch relay. Penza should be a city of sporty healthy people and large families, a sober city. Vivat to sport and physical education!” the governor of the Penza region said.
