The event, held at the ice rink of the shopping and leisure center “Premier League,” was dedicated to the first Winter Olympics in Russia.

“The sports festival provided an opportunity for free skating and taking part in competitions, as well as watching the performances of young skaters. The students of Children’s and Youth Sports School No.3 Victoria Lakhtina and Ilya Dzhalamanov presented their program with yet simple leaps and spins, but, as the young athletes noted themselves, they are trying to do everything to be able to perform at the Olympics,” the press secretary of Penza branch of Rostelekom Alexei Makarov told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He said that in four years, over 400 children participated in Penza winter competitions, they are students from the Penza region, children from orphanages and athletes from the Olympic Reserve School.

“This is our small contribution to the promotion of the Olympic movement,” the agency interlocutor said.

Alexei Makarov added that at the end of the sporting event all participants received the main symbol of the Winter Olympics in Sochi — the Olympic Bear.
