Penza, 9 April 2014. PenzaNews. Penza athletes won 22 medals of various quality at the fifth stage of the Cup of Russia in swimming, which took place in Dzerzhinsk.

34 athlete represented the region.

Two gold medals in 50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter freestyle, as well as bronze in 100-meter breaststroke were gained by Oleg Utekhin.

Denis Okunev was twice on the top of the podium — he remained unsurpassed in 200- and 400-meter freestyle.

Angelina Vankova took gold in 50-meter butterfly.

Diana Golofeeva won three silver medals in 50-, 100-and 200-meter breaststroke. Furthermore, she gained bronze in 200-meter medley.

Alexander Kharlanov, Vlad Shatalov, Anton Ekimov, Anton Emelin, Kirill Mordashev, and Diana Ivanova took their places on the podium in their disciplines.

Penza swimmers also won three medals in relay 4x100 meters freestyle and 4x100 meters medley.

The sixth and seventh stages of the Cup of Russia will be held in late June in Barnaul and Penza, the press service of the regional sports committee.
