Penza, 18 June 2014. PenzaNews. Table tennis competitions as a part of IV All-Russian Summer Universiade started in sports palace “Burtasy” in Penza on Tuesday, June 17.
13 university teams from Penza, Vladivostok, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Kolomna, Kazan, Moscow, Samara, St. Petersburg are competing for the prize.
According to the chief justice of the competition Alexander Mizin, all teams were divided into four subgroups by lot.
“The leaders of each of them will play for 1-4 places. Top players for now are the students of the Russian State Humanitarian University of Moscow, Kuban State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. There are even titled tennis players. For example, Alexei Zhukov and Ilya Shamin from Moscow. They are champions of Russia in doubles. Valentina Sabitova won prizes at a high level,” Alexander Mizin said.
He added that these competitions are not qualifying and do not show the level of development of university sports in specific regions by the example of table tennis.
The Penza region is represented by the team of Penza State University. It consisted of candidates master of sports Andrei Grishin, Daniil Mikheev, Nina Yudina and the first category players — Maria Dryndina, Yuliya Novoseltseva, Andre Gusev, the Internet service “” reported.
