Penza, 10 September 2014. PenzaNews. A member of Russian national team Ekaterina Nekrasova won a silver medal in one-meter springboard diving among female juniors aged 14-15 at the world diving championship. The competition was held in Penza sports palace “Burtasy” on Tuesday, September 9.
She entered the final stage of the competition after getting the 1st place during the qualification stage.
At the beginning of the final stage, the athlete also entrenched in the leading position.
After the second dive, Ekaterina Nekrasova was on her way to win, but the final attempt was subpar. In total, she scored 353.95 points.
The representative of USA national team Christine Brooke Schulz, who was following the Russian athlete, took advantage of the opportunity to overcome her. She performed perfectly, and became the winner of the competition, beating Ekaterina Nekrasova by 2.95 points.
The bronze medal at one-meter springboard diving competition went to Sheena Georgia from Australia. She scored 344.65 points in three dives.
Another representative of Russia, Anna Chuynysheva, also took place in the final stage of the competition; however, she finished on the 12th place with 302.15 points.
Talking about the lost victory, Ekaterina Nekrasova noted that she was very nervous before the last dive.
“The American performed very well before me. I was distracted by this and could not finish well. The fans supported me, but I still did not have enough confidence. After that, I came to the conclusion that I need to dive more, exercise more. The one who is better prepared has less reasons to worry,” the Internet service “Penza-Sport” quotes Ekaterina Nekrasova.
