The audience will see ten professional fights, the main of which between two Russian top wrestlers: Sergei Khandozhko, champion of Europe and the world in versatile combat, from Moscow; and Aygun Akhmedov, winner of the MMA World Cup “Orientalin” winner and jiu-jitsu professional from Dagestan.
“The card is very good, probably the best that we could do. As for the guests, there will be the legend of MMA and K1 Sergei Kharitonov and second rank number UFC Habib Nurmagomedov. This is a great event for Penza,” Sergei Zhatkin, promotion head of “Fight Stars,” during a meeting with journalists.
He also noted that for the first time in the history of “The Battle on Sura” there will be a female professional fight between Svetlana Gotsik from Ukraine and Natalia Denisova from Russia.
“Two worthy ladies will meet in a combat: the MMA world champion, and the vice-world champion in Pankration. Despite the fact they are women, I think it will be a highlight of the tournament,” Sergei Zhatkin added.
According to him, the number of people interested in such tournaments is constantly growing in Penza.
“The first ‘Battle on Sura’ gathered three thousand people, ‘The Battle on Sura 2’ welcomed 4.5 thousand people. Maybe it’s not a total sell-out, but it is a huge event for Penza,” he said.
Also during the press conference, it was announced that there will be no foreign fighters this time.
“We have bet on our local guys: there will be half of them, that’s for sure. Nevertheless, the tournament gathers the representatives of St. Petersburg, Makhachkala and Moscow. The current dollar situation does not allow inviting foreign fighters. Good fighters like Jeff Monson are too expensive for us now,” the “Fight Stars” promotion head explained.
It is planned that right before the tournament, “Diesel Arena” will become the place for celebrating Maslenitsa [Pancake Day].
The guests will be able to take part in festivities where they may eat pancakes and kebab.
As a part of the tournament, there will be drum show, as well as competitions and quizzes for the audience.
