The match took place on Friday, March 6, and the game favored the home team – 2:1.

As before, this game was tense: in the beginning, “Diesel” took the initiative and gained a two-goal advantage, thanks to accurate throws by Sergei Yavin, and Alexander Avtsin during power play.

“Buran” used its own power play moment at the beginning of the second period: Denis Koroteev scored the goal against Ilya Andryukhov.

The initiative in the match changed hands very frequently, with threatening moments appearing by both goals. Goalkeepers of both teams had not a minute to spare, while other players outdid themselves and frequently roughened up the opponents, slamming each other into the borders.

Neither team got any goals in the final 20-minute span, but the game did not suffer in the least from this. The match attracted the attention of over 4,000 fans at the seats.

Every time when the player No. 75 of “Buran” team got hold of the puck or was involved in the faceoff, the public roared wild with indignity: the fans jeered on ex-captain of “Diesel” Andrei Kuzmin who left his team mid-season.

On a press conference after the match, Andrei Sidorenko, main coach of the Penza team, thanked “Buran” for a good game and wished the opponents better luck next season.

The struggle kept everybody on their toes down to the last minute, said the Penza coach.

“The match was tough, but thanks to the guys for their patience and support. Now we will be preparing for quarterfinals. The guys must be commended, you all know about our team list troubles, but we march on. Penza still keeps its face to the end,” he said.
