Pensioners Spartakiad held in Penza

Penza, 29 May 2015. PenzaNews. The second Spartakiad for pensioners of the Penza region took place in the Olympic Reserve School on Friday, May 29.

The competition was gathered more than 300 people: men over 60 and women aged 55 years and older.

The teams from 30 urban districts and areas were competing for the prise.

Ivan Belozertsev, acting governor of the Penza region, attended the opening ceremony.

“Many of you have devoted your life sport. You have achieved good results in competitions at various levels. And I am especially pleased to see that you do not give it up, still keep yourself in good shape, and by personal example involve young people in a healthy lifestyle,” the head of the region said.

He wished success, health and longevity to the active seniors.

The Spartakiad participants competed in athletics, swimming, table tennis and chess. In addition, everyone willing had an opportunity to take the physical fitness test (the Sports Ministry “Ready for Labor and Defense” standards).

The press service of the government of the Penza region informs that the regional competitions are a qualifying stage for the Russian Pensioners Spartakiad in Saratov on June 10-12.
