Penza athletes win 8 gold medals total at 1st European Games in Baku

Penza, 29 June 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza athletes won a total of eight gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the First European Games that were held in Baku on June 12-28.
In particular, Maria Astashkina earned four gold medals. She was next to none in 50, 100 and 200 m breaststroke, and the fourth award was achieved in women’s 4 by 100 combined relay.
The swimmer Roman Larin earned two medals: a gold won in men’s 4 by 100 combined relay, and a bronze in 200 m backstroke.
Kirill Mordashev, another Penza swimmer, won silver in 200 m breaststroke.
Alia Mustafina, a gymnast for the Penza region, won a gold in horizontal bar exercises and two more in team and individual multidisciplinary.
She also earned a silver in free exercises, says the press service of the regional government.
A total of six athletes represented the Penza region as part of the Russian team for the First European Games in Baku.
They are Aliya Mustafina, a gymnast; Maria Astashkina, Roman Larin and Kirill Mordashev, swimmers; and Alexander Bryukhankov and Elena Danilova, triathletes.
