The authorities of the Penza region has achieved an agreement with the top management of the Supreme Hockey League to allow the Penza professional hockey club “Diesel” to take part in the 2015-2016 SHL championship, the acting deputy chairman of the Penza region government Evgeny Troshin announced on Thursday, July 2.

“Held talks about ‘Diesel’ club with SHL top manager German Skoropudov in Moscow. ‘Diesel’ will be in 2015-2016 SHL championship,” he wrote in his Facebook account.

On June 16, the regional media learned that “Diesel” club will be missing the 2015-2016 season of the Supreme Hockey League following the decision made at the general meeting of the club members. “Diesel” still aimed to remain in the SHL, while the junior team “Dizelist” will continue to play in the Youth Hockey League competition in the upcoming season.

On June 30, the acting governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev held a meeting with the team players, fans and ministers, and instructed the top management of the regional sports committee to form a package of proposals on financial restructuring of the club and prepare a letter of guarantee that will allow “Diesel” to take part in the 2015-2016 Supreme Hockey League championship.
