Russian Workforce Teams Spartakiad finals begin in Penza

Penza, 10 September 2015. PenzaNews. The finals of the Russian Workforce Teams Spartakiad dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory took off in Penza early on Thursday, September 10.

The competition is spread over several locations, including the Voeykov martial arts palace, the Pervomaisky stadium, the Sura swimming center and the Olimpiysky sports palace.
Over the next three days, the competitors of the Spartakiad will compete in arm wrestling, street basketball, volleyball, dumbbell lifting, athletics, ping-pong, tug-of-war, swimming, chess, and family contests.
The sports event brought together some 800 people from 33 regions of Russia, the host region being represented by the workers of “Penzadieselmash.”
The competitors will be assisted by 70 volunteer workers.
The official opening ceremony of the Spartakiad, first for the region, will take place at 17.00 of Thursday, September 10, at Voeykov sports palace.
The event will involve the acting governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev, as well as invited guests – David Krishtal, deputy chairman of the Russian union “Independed Russian Workers’ Unions Federation,” and Marina Tomilova, director of the Physical Education and Popular Sports Development Department at the Russian Ministry of Sports.
