Penza hockey team “Diesel” snatches team from Saratov’s “Kristall” in tough match

Penza, 18 October 2015. PenzaNews. The Penza hockey team “Diesel” has won the match against the Saratov “Kristall” during an away match in the Supreme Hockey League held on Saturday, October 17.

The struggle grew strong right from the start. Even though the home team gained the advantage, the visiting team from Penza was the first to score thanks to an accurate hit by Georgy Busarov – 0:1. The Saratov players answered in kind 40 seconds later with a goal from Pavel Poryadin, the newcomer of “Kristall.”
The second period also had the audience on the edge of their seats from the equally breathtaking engagement, even though the only goal of the time section was hit by the “Diesel” forward Alexander Zhurun – 1:2.
The game went on to become less avid after the break. The Penza team intervened with their opponents, thwarting the attempts to put pressure on the goal zone, and the visiting team managed to deepen the gap with a goal by David Dumbadze who brought the count to the new state of 1:3. However, the home team managed to take an attempt to bridge it with a hit by Vladislav Dashkevich during power play – 2:3.
“We knew the game would be like this, and we were preparing for it. I am glad to see the guys both hearing and listening to what we ask of them. My thanks goes off to our fans, they brought on quite a crowd here. We dedicate this victory to them,” the head coach of “Diesel” Andrei Nikishov commented on the game.
He pointed out the mental pressure present during this match, something he did not notice during the previous away clashes.
“Liked the opponents. We had to endure a lot of power play from them, and could have ended it better after reaching 3:1. This is another proof that any team can win over any other one this SHL season,” the “Diesel” press service quotes its head coach.
As a result, the Penza team earned 19 points and holds the 13th place in the list after taking part in 13 games.
The next match for “Diesel” will take place against “Saryarka” in Penza on Saturday, October 24.
